Finger Lickin' Good.
We can all agree that coming across a new delicacy and cooking it for your loved ones takes knowing the recipe.
For some, it takes a cookbook.
For some, it takes just browsing it out.
For others, YouTube.
What's next?
Getting prepared.
We then start out getting the ingredients.
For some, we follow the instructions to the last punctuation.
For some, we add a little spice.
But all in all, we follow the instructions.
Ignite.
Steam.
Scent.
Aroma.
We wait.
Perhaps munch on a little snack if you're like me.
Or go about other activities while keeping in mind the time set for the dish.
Taste.
Serve.
We apportion quantity in different plates.
Our loved ones are called to dig in.
What a great process.
I have come to realise that Christianity as our lifestyle is not a lifestyle out of the norm.
Not far-fetched.
Rather it's the life we have been called to live.
We were created for a purpose,
To serve a purpose,
To win souls in purpose.
And to radiate that purpose.
How can we serve as Christians if we don't meditate on the word day and night?
Joshua 1:8
"This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth;
but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein:
for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have success."
The meal can't come out with a delicious aroma and taste if we don't follow the instructions set for it.
Also, the word of God is made free and reachable for us to live our lives in God.
Our family, friends, colleagues, partners, spouses, government, nations, continents, and the globe at large through the availability of the world on our palms(social media) are meant to share in this good news by the light we shine.
By the aroma that stems from our service.
And the most amazing part of the meal is you get asked "what's the recipe for this meal."
Souls will be won because you studied and practised the word of God.
2 Timothy 2:15
"Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
And note this: you may not get your desired taste as you prepare the meal.
All you have to do is return to the recipe book.
All you have to do is give yourself to the One who knows you better than you know yourself.
And be willing to be used by Him.
Be willing to start the process of cooking the meal all over again, knowing that you would pay attention to the recipe book.
God's word is our recipe book.
Our willingness is our hands.
Our readiness is the use of our hands to chop, slice, or grate whatever is needed for the meal to come out amazing.
And the pot is the incubator that with the right and measured ingredients produces a sweet-smelling delicacy.
Christianity takes every part of us to make it work.
My action point for us today is to look within and ask yourself:
What aroma do my service and life produce?
Are souls being won and ministered to when they come in contact with me?
Are they curious to know my God?
Or is there no differentiation between my lifestyle and that of the world?
May the Lord help us to study His word and shine as light in Jesus' name, Amen.
Happy weekend Readers.
