Get The Q&A Rolling.
It's so beautiful when we all gather together to discuss as Christians.
More questions poured in.
Let's discuss and answer.
How do I grow as a christian?
Victorious: Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
Meditate on His word daily.
Practice His word by acting it out and when you falter, that is, fail to live by the word of God, it is important to come before God with a broken and a contrite heart.
A heart that acknowledges Christ as supreme and is willing to let God lead.
That's also part of growing as a Christian.
What is prayer and the importance of prayer?
Victorious: Prayer is the inward cry of our hearts being vocalized to God.
It's communication between us and our Father.
Cry in this context signifies everyday wants or needs either for ourselves, people around us, countries or the world at large.
It encompasses it all.
The importance of prayer is inexhaustible.
I'll mention a few:
- Prayer builds our intimacy with God, builds our confidence in God.
- Trust, faith and hope is strengthened.
- Prayer gives us the assurance that God hears and He listens.
- It relieves us of burdens, worries and helps us breathe anew.
- Prayer is as important to a Christian as breathing is to humanity.
Can a man be perfect or live without sin?
Victorious: It is possible to live on a daily basis without sin.
It takes conscious effort and the willingness to die daily for God to be alive in you.
We strive for perfection.
It is not a checklist that we keep on a daily basis.
It is the consciousness that we are in the flesh and can be prone to fleshy desires and in order to live without sin, we have to guard our hearts, thoughts and our daily activities.
So yes, a man can live without sin on a daily basis by working out his/her salvation consciously at all times.
What are the keys to unlocking spirituality?
Victorious: Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Personal Saviour.
I love to emphasize genuine repentance, because God cannot be mocked.
He, indeed, knows those who are His.
Meditating on the word of God, implementing His word in your daily activities, and communicating with your Father.
There is no special five keys or ten keys to unlocking spirituality, you have to do the work in order to grow spiritually.
How can I get eternal life?
Victorious: John 10:27-28; 27 My sheep; My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyonesnatch them out of My hand.
By being a child of God(Sheep) and be daily following the dictate of the word of God.
It is important to note that when we fail at keeping the word of God and walking in His word, we do not have to remain sinners or castaways.
A lot of believers have strolled back into the world because they feel their sins are too great for Christ to forgive and redeem them.
A broken and a contrite heart, God will not despise.
There is nothing too big that God cannot forgive, nevertheless we have to be willing to give Him the reins of our lives as we commit ourselves to him constantly.
Never let the devil keep you from running back to God and ensure that you do not take the mercies of God for granted because the Lord sees it all and He definitely cannot be mocked.
Is dating a sin?
Victorious: Godly dating is not a sin, you notice how there's a word added to that right?
That's because relationships are meant to be defined, and as Christians, our relationship with the opposite sex is very important.
Dating in Christianity is often referred to as Courtship, because it is expected that the goal during courtship is to prepare the man and woman involved for marriage.
So, a relationship that is not defined and does not glorify God is a sin.
Not dating.
What makes 'dating' in your application of the word become a sin is the activities in the relationship or courtship.
Is God glorified?
Is God the foundation?
Is God the pioneer and the one who directs the two of you or is it self, money, to flaunt, for sex, for pleasures of the world?
So dating in itself isn't a sin.
It is the content of your dating that is a sin when it is contrary to God's will for you in a relationship.
I'll like to add also, that we should seek God before entering any relationship, a lot of things are going on in the world when it comes to relationships and dating.
Let your 'dating' be founded in Christ, approved by Christ and sustained by Christ.
Because if it ain't God's will, then it ain't his bill.
How do I maintain the Holy spirit in me?
Ishioma: You can get eternal life by first of all repenting of your sins.
There are steps you'll have to take.
You must be born again in the spirit and continuously hear and accept the word of God.
You must also be ready to confess your sins to God through prayers.
You must be able to apply the word you hear in your everyday life.
What is sin?
Ishioma: Sin can be defined as the properties of the devil in a man. Jealousy, lust, hatred, anger, lies, deceit, pride, fornication, malice, theft, etc.
Victorious: Sin is anything that is contrary to the word of God. Anything that we indulge in that separates us from Christ and some examples have been listed above.
I have a friend who wronged me deeply and I can't find it in me to forgive the person, even though I am a christian. Is it possible to forgive a grievous offence? Is it right if I cannot forgive the offence?
Ishioma: It is not right to keep nursing malice in your heart and not forgive.
Jesus' disciples asked him, "how many times should your neighbour trangress against you that you should forgive him?" and Jesus replied them, saying "70×7 times."
We must learn to forgive.
Ask God to give you the spirit of forgiveness and He will because we do not have the power to forgive on our own without God's help.
While you forgive, also be careful with the way you deal with that person in the future.
How can I overcome sinful addictions?
Ishioma: You can overcome sinful addictions first of all by confessing them to God in prayers.
Do not be ashamed to confess them out to God.
Ask God for the spirit and the strength to overcome these sinful addictions.
Pray this prayer continously with all seriousness and you will see results in no time.
God through His Son Jesus Christ in the new testament appears to be more loving and merciful compared to the time of Moses (I only ask out of curiosity).
Ishioma: This is because Christ already atoned for and bore all our sins on the cross. By dying, he brought us grace, so that we can easily be forgiven of our sins.
Rom 11:29 says the gifts and callings of God are without repentance. God wont change his mind once he calls u or gves u a gift... My question is what happens to those gifts when one is dwelling in sin as a believer or when one backslides for a period of time. I know they r there, but are they active or inactive?
Ishioma: Whether we are sinners or believers, gifts from God are gifts from God.
They are ours irrespective of what we do.
A man who has erred can still sing beautifully in the choir and touch lives.
Though this is possible, he isn't doing it under the spirit of God.
Therefore, it isn't to the edification of God.
Even though he sings and people fall under the anointing, as far as he is in sin, those people aren't falling under the anointing of God.
The Bible says the only sin that will not be forgiven is d sin against the holyspirit ine grieving the holy Spirit mk 3vs 29... And apparently, we grief the holy Spirit almost everytime... does it mean those times grief d Holy spirit n ask for mercy, we are not forgiven?
Victorious: Mark 3 begins with Jesus Christ healing a man which had a withered hand on sabbath day and the Pharisees sought ways to accuse Jesus Christ.
And with all the miracles and multitude around Him, He ordained twelve, that He might send them forth to preach, and to have power to heal sicknesses, and cast out devils.
The scribes which came down from Jerusalem said Christ has an unclean spirit; referring to the Holy Spirit as Beelzebub "and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils" Mark 3:22b.
Then Mark 3:29 comes into play as Jesus Christ says that he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.
This shows that the scribes attributed the works and power of the Holy Spirit to the works and power of Satan.
Like you stated, we do grieve the Holy Spirit when we do not practice His word, live by it, or when we rely on own strength, etc.
I believe that we should be more concerned in retracing our steps and serving God even after grieving the Holy Spirit. I cannot tell you categorically that you won't be forgiven because a broken and a contrite heart, the Lord will not despise.
So, I believe, our focus should be on genuine repentance after grieving the Holy Spirit and also working out our repentance through standing and being rooted in the word of God.
If we come to Christ and confess our sins, and be doers and not just hearers on a daily basis.
We would be able to understand the power and sovereignty of the Holy Spirit as our guidance.
We would be able to understand the power and sovereignty of the Holy Spirit as our guidance.
A big thank you to everyone.
It's a wrap!!.
