Christians Do Talk.

Questions questions and more questions.

I and Onah Ishioma are so delighted to continue our discussion with ya'll.

I can't even begin to express my joy in knowing that  ya'll made this possible.

And here we are again, having another part of the Q&A.

Let's jump right into it.

How do you differentiate what’s right and what God wants?

Ishioma: We must understand that what we think is right is not what God thinks is right.

As humans, we see and process things with our natural eyes and mind.

What God wants is the right thing. I know this because He can never lead you astray.

He is our Father and wants what is best for us.

Therefore, to know what God wants for you, you have to be one with His Spirit that already resides in you.

Pray for the manifestation of His spirit in you.

Study His word.

Meditate upon it in order to know and act just like your Father to that point where you do not look at life through your logical reasoning but with the understanding of the word of God.

In doing that, you'll be able to know that what God wants is always the right thing even though it doesn't seem that way to our human eyes or intellect.

As regards dressing, are we that wear trousers, do make up thereby enhancing our looks going to make heaven?

Ishioma: From my own understanding, wearing trousers and make-up is not a sin.

But you should understand that they are things of the world, instruments that satan can easily use to lure you into committing sin.

So, you should be careful.

Do not allow your likeness for things such as make-up and clothes to lead you to commit sin.

To the point of lusting and placing your desires for those things above your lifestyle in Christ.

How would God want us to respond to aggression and terrorism?

Ishioma: God would want us to respond to aggression and terrorism by being calm and neutral and ever ready to forgive.

Do not give in to aggression. You have to rise above it. But you can't do it by your own power.

 You need to pray.

You also need the spirit of God to direct you on how to act in times of terrorism and aggression knowing fully well that He would direct you in the right way.

Why is this life not balance?

Victorious: (laughs) a friend of mine asked this and needed her answer instantly.

What I understand from the question is: why is that what you do is not what you get.

Let's take for instance, you put in attention and care for a person and you don't get that in return.

Being duped while being open to help.

Good people getting killed without any form of justice, you know that imbalance  we see as humans.

In every imbalance, there is actually a balance and that's Christ.

Christ came into our imbalance.

In Christ dying for us, we could also see the outplay of imbalance whereby while being nailed for our sins, He was still being mocked and ridiculed by the people He came to save.

From the human insight, life is imbalance because we view things as when I love this person, I should be loved in return.

When I care, I should be cared for by this person, if I reach out to understand this person, I should also get that in return.

Christ is showing us unconditional love, in the sense that even when 'life no balance,' even when people do not treat us the way we treat them.

Or when things don't work out the way we envision it to work out; with projects, with jobs, with contracts even after giving it our all.

Christ shows that we are able to live above what it seems like on earth.

We are able to genuinely forgive.

Reach out even when we don't get that in return, be able to love without it being reciprocated.

It shows the knowledge and understanding of God in a different dimension, and that can only happen when we, on a daily basis, daily deepen our relationship with God through study of His words

Through meditation and actually acting it out.

It is very easy to say these things, but when we come across them, it takes a lot, a lot to let go and do it Christ way.

In Christ, we have that balance.

Knowing that though the world may behave this way, or though the world may treat us in an ill manner, we would show the love of Christ, because in Christ, our life is balanced whereby we have peace even in the midst of storm.

Whereby we have joy even when the things around us don't seem so joyous.

Will getting piercings, using weaves and makeup and putting on trousers as a lady prevent you from going to heaven?

Ishioma:  No, it won't.

Like earlier discussed.

These things are instruments that the devil use to lure people into committing sin.

Hence, we have to be careful so we don't fall prey of the devil.

We can do this by praying and also habiting the Spirit of God.

I know of a sister who is very spiritual.

She says she used to plait her hair with weaves and would wear minimal make up from time to time, but then, she got to a stage of spirituality in which the spirit of God in her didn't agree with those things.

Without being forced, she let them go.

What am I trying to say?

You don't necessarily have to stop wearing make-up or making your hair simply because someone tells you to.

Instead, pray to God about it.

 Let His spirit lead you.

If He says keep doing it, by all means carry on.

But if He doesn't, then stop.

Contribution

We should let people understand and see Christianity as a Lifestyle and not a religion.

Because if it is seen as a lifestyle and not a religion, lot of the problems happening in the Christian community will reduce.

Is Christianity a Religion or a life.

Ishioma: Christianity is a life not a religion.

It is embodying the life of Christ as a result of His spirit in you.

What Christ does, you do it also.

There are people who ask if it is possible to be perfect as Christ is and the answer is yes.

You can be perfect and be like Christ.

One thing we must understand is that, it is not the physical body that is made perfect but the Spirit in a man.

When Christ's spirit dwells in a man, through fervent prayers and total surrender, it chases away the debris of sin.

Before you used to steal, lie and fornicate but you don't anymore.

That is because of the Spirit of God in you.

Those things are not part of Christ's lifestyle.

His lifestyle is righteousness and holiness.

Imbibing these traits is what it means to be a Christian and it is very attainable; through prayers, studying the world of God and practising what you have studied in your everyday life.

What is our primary purpose of being on earth.

Ishioma: According to a spiritual teacher that I was fortunate to be acquainted with for a while.

He said that, our primary purpose on earth is to strive to ensure that our spirit man enters the kingdom of God.

This is because we only have a while to live here on earth.

What matters is where we would get to spend our eternity.

Victorious: And to win souls for Christ because as we strive to ensure that our spirit man enters the kingdom of God.

We also have to profess and live God's word out on a daily basis and in doing that, souls are being won into the kingdom of God.

Why did God choose me to do His work?

Ishioma: God chose you to do His work because you are one of His elected ones.

Elects are people that bear the spirit of God.

We all are elects of God.

We are all created and filled with a purpose to carry out spiritual functions here on earth.

He chose you because you are His own, created in His image.

And we are created for that purpose, for greater works, to win souls, to shine our light to the world as His own.

Can a true believer become a good politician

Victorious: Definitely.

Matt 5:14 "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light into all that is in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven."

Shining your light as a believer in the political sector is possible and amazing, whereby you seek the way of the Lord in the affairs of the State, Country or in whatever position or sector you are elected into.

We know that politics, as they say, is a different ball game.

Nevertheless, as Christians, we 'ball' God's way.

Studying, meditating and guarding our hearts is very crucial in our walk with God, and same goes for believers who are politicians.

The readiness to obey God even in the midst of opposition/oppression/pressure.

Being rooted in Christ daily is also very important because as a believer in politics, you know that you are different from the status quo and you represent Christ.

Our assurance is knowing that one with God is a majority.

And that's all for today.

But not the last Q&A.

So, as always.

Stay posted.

  2. Follow God earnestly, ask for His will per time. Proverbs 3:5-12(msg translation)
Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God ’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God ! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life! Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over. But don’t, dear friend, resent God ’s discipline; don’t sulk under his loving correction. It’s the child he loves that God corrects; a father’s delight is behind all this.

  3. A friend of mine gave his observation:

On how God would want us to respond to aggression and terrorism, I feel the explanation/answer is not that convincing.

Terrorism is a deliberate act that aims at annihilating, if need be, for a political goal.

These acts have seen to a lot of territories, provinces, countries that were hitherto Christians dominated gave way for the practice of other religion.

Terrorism aims to subjugate and in the process offers you the choice to submit or be killed.
Most beautiful tenets of Christianity are calmness/meekness, gentility but not to the point of stupidity.

Once an aggression is directed at you for an objective with your life at stake, self defense as a natural instinct becomes inevitable. It's high time we stopped hobnobbing with long suffering as important attribute of a Christian life nor should we be favorably disposed to stoicism to prove a point.

To advocate calmness for terrorism is to replace our frailty and human nature with a messianic complex!

    Just my observation...

Also not convinced by the explanation for piercing, wearing of trousers.

Reason for piercing other than to differentiate gender mostly is intended to please the desires of the flesh.

In fact wearing of hijab amongst females for body covering was a practice among Christian ladies especially the Catholics. But modernism is gradually supplanting these practices taking the grace in new testament for granted.

The area that needs urgent x-raying in your discourse is, perhaps, *the church and the modern world: what is the direction of causality?*
